About us

Money you already own shouldn’t quietly disappear.

Refunds go unposted. Credits expire. Gift cards get buried in an inbox from four years ago. Lost Money Detective exists to make that value visible again.

Most people have a paper trail of value scattered across years of email: an airline eCredit from a cancelled trip, a store credit from a return, a rebate card with a small balance left, a refund a merchant promised and never sent. Individually each one is easy to forget. Together they can matter.

Lost Money Detective brings that trail into one place. It reads the evidence you authorize, extracts the facts, and — when you choose to connect an eligible financial account — checks whether the money actually arrived. What it cannot verify, it labels as needing verification rather than counting as a win.

We are a small, independent product team. We are not a bank, a government agency, or a claims filer, and we are not affiliated with any financial institution or government program.

What we hold ourselves to

Evidence over optimism
Every item shown is tied to something documented. If the evidence is weak, the app says so instead of inflating a total.
Separate kinds of value
A coupon is not a refund. An expired certificate is not cash. The product keeps these apart so the numbers stay meaningful.
No pressure, no hype
No countdown timers, no sweepstakes framing, no promises about what you will find.
You stay in control
Every connection is optional, revocable, and explained before it starts.
